Olympic wrestler Steveson joins Buffalo Bills
The Buffalo Bills of the National Football League announced Friday evening that Olympic wrestling champion Gable Steveson has signed with the team.
Steveson won a gold medal in the heavyweight wrestling competition at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics.
He became the youngest freestyle wrestler to win an Olympic gold medal in the super heavyweight division at the age of 21 years, 2 months and 6 days.
He has been added to the Bills' practice squad and will compete for a spot on the defensive line.
"I've been fortunate to compete at the highest level in my sport but I'm looking forward to the challenge of seeing how my wrestling skills can transfer to football," Steveson, who has never played football, told ESPN.
